- Available via an i4F license
SURFACES – BOOTH 927, LAS VEGAS, USA – i4F®, a group of companies providing patents and technologies to the flooring industry, today announced that it has obtained licensing rights to CFL Flooring’s new patented acoustic innovation for SPC. The new technology enhances acoustic properties by reducing noise from walking, room echoes, floor squeaking, and insulates sound transmission to lower floors, while also providing a softer feel underfoot.
CFL’s patented multi-layered construction significantly reduces both reflection and transmission footfall noise. While hard surface flooring options, such as laminate, wood, tiles, and SPC have evolved in terms of durability, aesthetics, and waterproof capabilities, they still encounter the challenge of noise. This technology utilizes multiple layers of specifically engineered materials, each designed to block specific sound frequencies. As a result, it offers improved acoustic performance across these flooring categories, addressing the noise issue more effectively than traditional solutions. CFL has a strong patent portfolio and extensive know-how on acoustic flooring products including industry-leading acoustic wood, acoustic laminate, and acoustic thermoplastic such as multi-layer SPC/LVT.
Thomas Baert, President of CFL Flooring, says, “We have advanced SPC acoustics to a whole new level with our latest patented technology. This innovation leverages our extensive experience in the category as well as incorporates groundbreaking advancements in sound reduction and acoustic performance. Our longstanding partnership with i4F, combined with their leadership in new materials technologies, makes them the ideal partner to license out our innovative technology around the globe.”
John Rietveldt, i4F’s CEO, says, “Acoustics and noise reduction remain important considerations for consumers when selecting flooring and a continuous challenge for manufacturers. As a reputed leader in acoustic innovations, CFL’s patented technologies are recognized as best-in-class in the global flooring industry. By using this advanced multi-layered technology to target specific sounds in SPC, manufacturers can significantly enhance the value of both existing and new product lines.”
