- I4F claims Mohawk Molveno and Prizefighter using Unilin’s Unipush system infringe one of its patents, US Patent No. 10,053,868 (US’868)
- Follows lawsuit against Wellmade and Costco, others to follow
- Mohawk needs to pay royalties, like any other flooring manufacturer
WILLEMSTAD, CURAÇAO – I4F, a group of companies providing patents and technologies to the flooring industry, today announced that it has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Mohawk for the manufacturing, using, importing, selling and/or offering for sale of Mohawk Molveno and Prizefighter vinyl plank flooring using Unilin’s Unipush locking system in the United States. I4F filed the case before the US District Court for the District of Delaware.
I4F’s alleges that the Mohawk products, using the Unipush locking system, infringe one of its patents in the United States, US Patent No. 10,053,868.
I4F said, “Over the years, Mohawk has filed several infringement actions against other flooring manufacturers, so Mohawk already knows that it must have a valid license agreement in place before using the intellectual property of others on its products.”
I4F provides licensees with IP expertise, meaningful patents and cutting-edge technologies as well as access to some of the global flooring industry’s best innovations, including 3L TripleLock and Click4U. Patents for I4F’s technologies have been granted and filed in over 100 countries worldwide. Its patent strategy is designed to provide its licensees with flexibility as well as a strong and broad scope of patent protection in relation to its 3L TripleLock and its other technologies. I4F represents over 2,000 patents divided over clusters covering locking, surface finishing, board and wall panels, materials and panel composition as well as manufacturing processes.
The company said it would continue to undertake the appropriate legal action against all infringements and do everything in its power to safeguard its patents, technologies and licensees around the world.
