- Opposition division of European Patent Office publishes preliminary opinion in full favour of Innovations4Flooring patent EP2440724
- All arguments in oppositions filed by Unilin and Classen rejected in first round of EPO commentary
WILLEMSTAD, CURAÇAO – Innovations4Flooring (I4F), a technology company providing flooring installation solutions, today announced that the European Patent Office’s opposition division has published a preliminary opinion in favour of its patent EP’724. In this document, all arguments raised in the oppositions filed by the two opponents Unilin and Classen against I4F’s EP’724 have been rejected.
I4F’s 3L TripleLock one piece drop-lock technology has patents granted in 37 countries worldwide and multiple additional patent applications pending. The European Patent Office (EPO) recently granted another new European divisional* for 3L TripleLock expanding the total scope of its protection in Europe, and providing licensees with additional legal certainty of its innovative character.
I4F’s technology is already being used in millions of square meters of different types of flooring, including laminate, wood, luxury vinyl tiles (LVT) and wood plastic composite (WPC). I4F is the original creator and provider of a truly patented one-piece drop lock solution, based on a threefold locking mechanism, suitable for laminate, LVT, WPC and wooden flooring panels.
John Rietveldt, CEO of Innovations4Flooring said, “We believe this preliminary opinion from the EPO reinforces the strength of our patent and its added value for our licensees. Our goal is to revolutionize the global flooring industry through freedom of choice and game changing innovations.”
