{"id":8316,"date":"2024-06-19T12:55:26","date_gmt":"2024-06-19T12:55:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/i4f.com\/?post_type=article&#038;p=8316"},"modified":"2024-06-19T12:55:28","modified_gmt":"2024-06-19T12:55:28","slug":"i4f-frees-industry-from-spc-trademark-stronghold","status":"publish","type":"article","link":"https:\/\/i4f.com\/zh-hans\/article\/i4f-frees-industry-from-spc-trademark-stronghold\/","title":{"rendered":"i4F frees industry from \u201cSPC\u201d trademark stronghold"},"content":{"rendered":"        <section class=\"block hero-news article\" id=\"block_6672d53e2dc40\">\n              <div class=\"hero-content\">\n                <div class=\"overlay\"><\/div>\n                <div class=\"container\">\n                  <div class=\"row\">\n                    <div class=\"col-xl-6 offset-xl-3\">\n                      <div class=\"hero-body\">\n                        <p class=\"date\">2024\u5e74 6\u6708 19\u65e5<\/p>\n                        <h1 class=\"h4\">i4F frees industry from \u201cSPC\u201d trademark stronghold<\/h1>\n                      <\/div>\n                    <\/div>\n                  <\/div>\n                <\/div>\n              <\/div>\n        <\/section>\n\n\n\n        <section class=\"block text \" id=\"block_6672d53e2dd13\">\n          <div class=\"container\">\n  <div class=\"row\">\n    <div class=\"col-md-6 offset-md-3 order-md-1\">\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><em>i4F acquires \u201cSPC\u201d trademark rights<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><em>All current &#8220;SPC&#8221; trademark US customs actions lifted<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><em>No longer necessary to cover &#8220;SPC\u201d name on product packaging on US product imports<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>TURNHOUT, BELGIUM \u2013 i4F\u00ae, a group of companies providing patents and technologies to the flooring industry, today announced that it has obtained the full rights to the US \u201cSPC\u201d trademark and, is freeing the flooring industry from current US customs restraints related to SPC products carrying L2C program holographic labels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the past months, the flooring industry faced large scale US customs border seizures and, consequently, was forced into paying large sums to have containers holding their SPC products released.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To liberate the market from these hurdles, i4F filed legal procedures against Kolay Flooring as well as its owner, Dan Mitchell.&nbsp; As a result of a settlement and follow-up amendments to the existing settlement agreements with SPC flooring technology licensors Unilin and V\u00e4linge, all customs actions based on the \u201cSPC\u201d trademark against SPC products carrying an L2C label have stopped.&nbsp; This also means that it is no longer necessary to cover up the word \u201cSPC\u201d from such products imported into the US.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The L2C program is an industry authentication labelling program for licensed partners which requires an authorized and unique holographic label on every box of product that is covered by certain intellectual property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bill Blackstock, president and CEO of the Resilient Floor Covering Institute (RFCI), commended i4F on its initiative, \u201cOn behalf of all RFCI members, we would like to extend our deepest appreciation to i4F for its commitment in supporting the resilient flooring industry and ensuring the term SPC remains available for the entire industry to use to describe its products.&#8221;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>i4F CEO, John Rietveldt, adds, \u201cWe believe in freedom to operate and accessibility so when we found out the industry was being subjected to, what we fiercely believed to be unjust fees and significant delays at US customs, we didn\u2019t hesitate to take action!&nbsp; Thankfully, this paid off and has now resulted in a settlement.
